La Biotecnología, según la Comisión Europea

La biotecnología está presente en el [1] 7º programa marco de investigación de la Comisión Europea.
La temática número 2 del 7º programa marco corresponde a [2] Alimentación, agricultura y biotecnología. Su objetivo, dice textualmente es: Building a European Knowledge Based Bio-Economy by bringing together science, industry and other stakeholders, to exploit new and emerging research opportunities that address social, environmental and economic challenges: the growing demand for safer, healthier, higher quality food and for sustainable use and production of renewable bio-resources; the increasing risk of epizootic and zoonotic diseases and food related disorders; threats to the sustainability and security of agricultural, aquaculture and fisheries production; and the increasing demand for high quality food, taking into account animal welfare and rural and coastal contexts and response to specific dietary needs of consumers.
El Parlamento Europeo ha dado ya [3] luz verde su presupuesto y se pondrá en marcha a principios del año 2007 con las primeras convocatoria de proyectos. Esta edición del PM constituye una importante proyección de la [4] política comunitaria de investigación al ampliar su periodo de aplicación y coincidir con el diseño y desarrollo del ERC (European Research Council) y los debates sobre el EIT (European Institue of Technology).
Lo curioso del caso es que han ubicado la biotec con la agro-alimentación, lo cual no deja de sorprender cuando la moda general es colocarla con la salud y la medicina. No estoy en contra, pero está claro que la biotecnología afecta a más de una disciplina de la ciencia.
